Dear Member,

Contemporary Art: Why the Controversy?

The work of contemporary artists is a dynamic combination of materials, methods, concepts and subjects that challenge traditional boundaries and defy easy definition. August museums from the Museum of Modern Art in New York to the Tate Modern in London continue to come under heavy criticism for supporting this style of art.
Contrasting events in the 1970s, the Bricks controversy of 1976 and the Stubbs appeal of 1977, well illustrate the very different reactions and emotions that museum acquisitions inflame.
At an exclusively discounted rate for members of the Singapore Press Club, Ms Sally J. Clarke, Founder of ENECAA, will give a lecture on Contemporary Art: Why the Controversy?
Through the use of video, artist interviews and analysis of contemporary artworks, Ms Clarke will share a number of key insights into this fascinating world, which frequently inspires headline news.
Networking post the lecture will give attendees an opportunity to further explore the artworks presented.
