You are invited to attend a talk on state of Singapore law in relation to corporate restructuring and insolvency by Mr Andrew Chan, Partner, Allen & Gledhill LLP.
When: March 9 (Thursday), from noon to 2pm.
Venue: SPH News Centre, 1000 Toa Payoh North, Room T2.1.
Lunch will be served from 11.30am.
The talk consists of two parts, each of 45 minutes duration. The first will be an overview of the Singapore legal landscape with respect to restructuring and insolvency. The second will be on current trends and issues in relation to restructuring and insolvency in Singapore, including cross-border issues.
Synopsis:
It is useful to have an understanding of the legal restructuring and insolvency landscape, especially in the less than robust current economic climate. This talk aims to provide an overview of the corporate restructuring and insolvency laws and related practice in Singapore.
It will cover issues such as the concept and consequences of insolvency, an overview of the sources of restructuring and insolvency laws, the various insolvency regimes and recent developments in the area.
Moreover, in recent times, there has been an increased focus on cross-border insolvency issues due to globalisation of trade and commerce. This talk will also address current trends and issues in relation to restructuring and insolvency in Singapore, including cross-border issues impacting Singapore.
It is hoped that with this talk, editors, journalists and reporters will have a better appreciation and understanding of the area, and accordingly produce more accurate and insightful articles, reports and analysis.
