On 12 August, over 20 members from the Singapore Press Club and Foreign Correspondents Association took a virtual trip to Mexico to study ‘The Deep Roots of Nature & All its Nature’, an introduction to rum, mescal and tequila under the guidance of Mauricio Allende, Founder and Global Brand Manager of Casa Elemental. Members learned about the process of sustainable natural processes in creating Casa Elemental spirits.

The philosophy of Casa Elemental shows deep respect for the environment - from the soil, harvesting of the crops and the raw materials used, to the barrels for maturation, the whole process must come from sustainable origins and be completely addictive free.

All-natural resources obtained are either wild or farmed and come from a direct or indirect sustainable source. No ecosystems or animal habitats are being threatened. Harvesting is done by hand while carbon footprint is minimized during  the whole process.  Renewable energy resources such as a hydraulic plant by the river next to the distillery and solar panels by the mezcal fields are harnessed. Instead of using substitute yeast, wild yeast is fermented and distilled with a mix of modern technology and ancient methods. Spirits are aged naturally.

Mauricio also shared four cocktail recipes using Asian ingredients.

Congratulations to Derek Wallbank of Bloomberg on being the winner of the Case Elemental quiz !

This collaboration was made possible by Cornerstone Wines.
