It just gets better each year!! No exception, at our fourth annual golf tournament held at the Orchid Country Club on the 25th Oct 2011.
We had the largest turn-out with 101 golfers tee-ing off. For the first time in 4 years we had enough golfers – both members and guests – to justify a shot-gun start. This ensured that everyone could all get to the pre-dinner cocktails within 30 minutes of finishing our last hole.
Gracing the event was former cabinet minister and MP for Tampines GRC, Mr Mah Bow Tan. Stirring up the high expectations of our participants was the Hole-in-One prize of a Mercedes C180 Coupe. Even the dark overhanging rain-clouds decided not to mar our event by quickly dispersing – leaving us a cool and cloudy day for our golfers to excel in their game.
The Club Champion this year is Timothy Lim from SPH who carded a gross score of 81 for a 37 Stableford-point win, based on the System 36 competition format. Our top five member-golfers scored 37 Stableford points. In second position is Tang Ngai Kin, also from SPH, with a gross score of 82. The next three positions were held by associate members. Our top lady golfer Grace Fung is third in the ranking with a gross score of 89. Amos Ng is fourth with a gross score of 88 and Hsu Chia Chi is fifth carding a gross score of 92.
We also had a separate tournament for all the guests. Guest Champion is Sng Eng Chua (husband of SPH’s Sng Ngoi May) who carded a gross score of 89 with 38 Stableford points. Soh Chye Guan came in second with a gross score of 84 and Sazali Bava came in third carding a gross score of 87. Both the runners-up came in with 37 Stableford points.
Thanks to our Event Sponsors Citigroup and Emirates and the main Prize Sponsors Cerebos Pacific & S Poolz, all the participants were already winners when they collected their Goodie Bags.
Lucky Draw prizes were the main attraction at dinner and to cap it all, Mohd Rafin of Park Hotels spontaneously offered 10 more complimentary Hotel Stays at any of their hotels in Singapore, Hong Kong and China.
The contagion also spread to Nick Reese of Emirates Airlines and he quickly took the stage to offer additional return tickets to Dubai.
What else can I say but Thank You, 3 times over. Thank you to all the Sponsors who readily contributed to the Event. Thank you to all the participants for making time to join us at OCC, and Thank You to the organising team for without their diligence and effort our event would not have been possible.
