Singapore Press Club Awards returns for 3rd year
Nominations for the Awards and Hall of Fame inductees are now open and will close 30 April 2024
Singapore, 1 March 2024 - The annual Singapore Press Club Awards, launched as part of the Club’s 50th anniversary, returns for its third year to recognise journalists and other media-related professionals who have excelled and contributed to building a vibrant media industry in Singapore.
With the support of returning sponsors - presenting sponsor Citi, Sustainability Journalism Award title sponsor City Developments Limited (CDL), Rising Stars Young PR Professional Award title sponsor Telum Media and Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) as prize sponsor - the awards aim to shine a spotlight on deserving media professionals by recognising their contributions across three categories - Rising Stars, Sustainability Journalism and Hall of Fame.

Nominations are now open and will close on 30 April 2024. Award winners and Hall of Fame inductees will be announced at the Singapore Press Club Press Ball and Awards Night on 13 July 2024.
Rising Stars Awards for outstanding young media professionals
The Rising Stars Awards seek to celebrate and encourage young journalists and media professionals (below 35 years of age as at 31 December 2023) by recognising excellence in their craft and the impact of their work. There will be three sub-categories:
The Rising Stars - Young Journalist Award is aimed at young journalists who have excelled in their professional craft and served as role models.
The Rising Stars – Young Digital Journalist Award is for young journalists who have excelled in visual-storytelling using digital tools to create exemplary user experiences.
The Telum Media - Singapore Press Club Young PR Professional (Rising Stars) Award aims to recognise young public relations professionals who have displayed exemplary media relations skills and exhibited professionalism and partnership in his or her work.

CDL - Singapore Press Club Sustainability Journalism Award
With sustainability becoming the critical global challenge of our time, the Sustainability Journalism Award recognises journalists who have made an impact in changing public attitudes, behaviours, and policies that further the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)*.
Esther An, Chief Sustainability Officer, City Developments Ltd (CDL) said: “We are living in an unsustainable world. Sustainability journalism plays a critical role in pushing businesses to do better in ensuring profit is not without purpose. As a pioneer in sustainability for almost 30 years, CDL remains committed to supporting the media in raising the awareness of climate change and its impact on the planet and people. More importantly, the media can drive action by bringing the public, private and people sectors together to transition towards a climate-resilient world.”
The recipient of this award must demonstrate commitment and passion to leave a better world for future generations. Judging criteria will focus on a nominee’s impact on social trends; long-term, consistent track record; impact on social attitudes; impact on behaviours; impact on national policies.
Prizes for award winners
While the aim is to select one award winner in each sub-category, the judging panel will consider giving more in special cases where there are deserving candidates. Every winner of the Rising Stars Awards and Singapore Press Club Sustainability Journalism Award will be presented with a trophy plus receive a 2-night stay inclusive of breakfast for two worth $1,000 at a hotel of their choice sponsored by Millennium Hotels and Resorts.

Hall of Fame to honour industry veterans
The Hall of Fame award aims to honour veterans of the media industry for their outstanding and lasting contributions to their profession and the industry. The Hall of Fame includes journalists, leaders in the media as well as media-related professions such as public relations, marketing, and academia.
Nominees must be aged 65 years or above as at 31 December 2023, and have worked for at least 25 years in the media or a media-related profession. Honourees can also be inducted posthumously.

The Singapore Press Club invites members of the industry to nominate deserving candidates for the Rising Stars Awards, the Sustainability Journalism Award, and the Hall of Fame.
Members of the judging panels comprise management committee members of The Singapore Press Club, industry leaders, and representatives from the sponsors.
