Dear members,

The Asian American Journalists Association Asia Chapter is holding a fact-checking and source verification workshop on COVID-19 coverage for a limited number of its members and is sharing this session with Singapore Press Club members via Facebook Live:

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 29, 2020
10:30AM – 12:30PM

COVID-19 has been the center of media attention for the past month. However, misinformation surrounding the disease can also spread as fast as the SARS-CoV-2 virus itself. To report on stories more accurately, learn how to verify information for stories using Google Advanced Search Tools. In this digital journalism workshop by AAJA-Asia Training Network trainer, Mike Raomanachai, you’ll find out more about the tools to analyse, verify, and geolocate sources or visual information. After a brief introduction on disinformation, the workshop will cover:

a.       search tools for source verification
b.       map tools and geolocation, and
c.       photo and video forensics.

* Topics may change due to available time and audience composition.

Here is how to access the livestream of Saturday’s workshop on Facebook Live:

1.       Join AAJA-Asia Facebook Group any time before the session begins: https://www.facebook.com/groups/AAJAasia/
2.       Make sure you turn on the group notification.
3.       The livestream will appear on Saturday Feb 29 at 10:30 AM Singapore time.
