Dear members,

Last year, ahead of the start of a new decade and the Press Club’s 50th anniversary in 2021, your Management Committee (MC) held a retreat to plan for the future and take the Club to the next level.

We were unanimous about one thing: The time had come to professionalise the Club’s secretariat and appoint a general manager. An all-volunteer MC would no longer be able to keep up our level of activities, much less take the Club higher.

I’m pleased to announce that we have appointed Janet Wee, as the Club’s GM.

Janet, who has served on the MC for nearly 6 years, retired recently from Singapore Press Holdings where she was with the Media Solutions Division. We are glad she agreed to take up the job.

So please welcome Janet on board as GM of the Singapore Press Club. For those who may not know her, do see her photo and bio below. Her email is janetwee.biz@gmail.com.

Janet would like to take this opportunity to get your feedback on the type of activities that both you and your friends and guests would like her to do more of. Please click this link to give us your feedback: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7RQVZ7M

The MC and I would like to thank you for your continued support of the Press Club. We remain fully committed to serve you and our valued members and grow the Club further.

Unfortunately, given the Code Orange Covid-19 situation, we’ve had to put on hold most activities we had planned for February and March. We hope to resume our events as soon as we can.

In the meantime, we have negotiated some F&B offers for our members to enjoy with your family and friends. Just show your membership card (or a screenshot of your valid card) to enjoy privileges at the following places:

Winestone Restaurant, Bar & Retail @ Novotel Singapore on Stevens, 30 Stevens Road : 25% discount
Orchard Cafe @ Orchard Hotel : 20% discount
Cornerstone Wines & Spirits distributor : selected wines and spirits at special low prices
(Scroll below for details and offer terms & conditions)

Lastly, our Annual General Meeting is around the corner. Do mark the AGM date in your calendar: Thurs, April 23, 2020. Dinner will be served from 6pm. We’ll let you know the venue nearer the date. We will also send out a formal notice, together with the AGM documents.

Take care and stay safe,

Best wishes,

Patrick Daniel
