You are cordially invited to join a networking session and a guided tour of two Singapore Biennale 2016 Affiliate Projects, The world precedes the eye and Boedi Widjaja: Black—Hut, at LASALLE College of the Arts’ Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) Singapore.
Explore the journey of nine artists from across the Asia-Pacific region in The world precedes the eye as they identify new lines of thinking about material across time, space and history. They include works in a range of media that will be exhibited in Singapore for the first time.
With Boedi Widjaja: Black—Hut, Indonesia-born Singaporean artist Boedi Widjaja has designed a complex architectural and sound work – a room within a room – that links diverse conceptual references through his own lived experience of migration, culture and aesthetics. Boedi will be present to introduce his exhibition.
Other highlights include:
– A new 16mm film installation by Pratchaya Phinthong (Thailand) that documents the burning of methane hydrate
– A “small academy” by Zeyno Pekünlü (Turkey) showcasing cheat sheets from around the world
– Spoken word by Zou Zhao (Singapore) that occupies three sites in the gallery.
