An Engaging Session Serving As A Platform For Open Dialogue Between Policymakers And The Media
The Johor Economic, Tourism and Cultural Office Singapore (JETCO) reinforced its commitment to advancing cross-border collaboration between Johor and Singapore during an exclusive media engagement session with members of the Singapore Press Club.
This session held on 13 April 2026, brought together journalists and international correspondents, featuring insights from Dato' Haji Hasnibin Mohammad, Executive Chairman of JETCO, and Mr Vinothan Tulisi, Director of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Singapore.
Held under the theme "How Johor & Singapore are Reshaping Cross-Border Investment," the session highlighted the strengthening economic synergy between the two regions and the growing opportunities driven by closer integration.
"Johor and Singapore are no longer operating as separate markets, but as a connected economic ecosystem. The border between us is not a line of control, but a line of integration - one that enables the seamless flow of ideas, talent, and investment.
With the Johor Special Economic Zone being developed intentionally to strengthen this integration, we are aligning our strengths to create a high-growth corridor that delivers real value to businesses, investors, and communities on both sides," said Dato' Haji Hasni bin Mohammad.
The discussion underscored Johor's strategic position as a competitive investment destination, supported by its proximity to Singapore, cost advantages, and expanding infrastructure. Key developments such as the Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link and the continued growth of economic zones were highlighted as catalysts for future investment.
Mr Vinothan Tulisi emphasised Malaysia's ongoing efforts to facilitate foreign investments and strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly across high-growth sectors including manufacturing, technology, and tourism.
The engagement also served as a platform for open dialogue between policymakers and the media, offering deeper insights into Johor's economic direction and its role within the broader ASEAN growth landscape.
JETCO's outreach to the Singapore Press Club reflects its broader strategy to build strong relationships with key media stakeholders, ensuring accurate and impactful storytelling on Johor's investment and tourism developments.
