Stephanie Yeo, Senior Correspondent, The Straits Times, SPH Media
Stephanie Yeo’s stories met all the requirements of strong health journalism. It raised issues that have been under-reported - half of Singapore women in their reproductive years have poor sexual function; and how many women aren’t aware of problems caused by menopause. These are topics few Asian women would be comfortable discussing, and are seldom aired in public. It was well-researched, with both local and foreign data. There was good story-telling with real-life horror stories. And most importantly, they were impactful and had likely helped many women who had not realised their problems were not unique, and treatments were available.
