Dear Member
You are invited to a guided tour of the showcase “Remembering our Founders – The Making of a Memorial” at the Waterview Room at the Flower Dome of Gardens by the Bay.
Following the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, members of the public made many suggestions as to how to remember and honour Singapore’s founding father. In response, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong mooted the idea of a Founders’ Memorial to honour not just Mr Lee but also our founding leaders, and appointed Mr Lee Tzu Yang to chair a committee to gather views from the public to see if this idea resonates with Singaporeans.
The committee has been engaging the public and stakeholder groups over the past two years on the narrative, form and location for the memorial – as well as the meanings and journeys it could offer for different visitor groups.
The showcase recounts the milestones of the engagement process during which the committee sought Singaporeans’ views regarding the content, features and location of the memorial. The showcase also presents the findings of the engagement process and allows visitors to contribute their own views.
