10.30am – 11am – Introduction to Duke-NUS Medical School, by the Duke-NUS Communications Team
11am – 11.30am – Dengue research overview and lab tour, presented by dengue expert, Professor Ooi Eng Eong
11.30 am – Noon – Tour of the educational facilities
Noon – 12.30pm – Lunch

About Duke-NUS Medical School
The only graduate-entry medical school in Singapore, Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS) was established in 2005 as a collaboration between the Duke University School of Medicine, located in North Carolina, USA, and the National University of Singapore (NUS). Duke-NUS offers a 4-year MD (Doctor of Medicine) training programme based on Duke’s curriculum model of education, MD/PhD and PhD programmes. Additionally, Duke-NUS is a robust research institution with five Signature Research Programmes: Cancer and Stem Cell Biology, Neuroscience and Behavioural Disorders, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders and Health Services and Systems Research.

About Professor Ooi Eng Eong
Professor Ooi is the Deputy Director of the Emerging Infectious Diseases Programme at Duke-NUS Medical School and an expert in dengue research. His research focuses on understanding how antibodies protect or enhance the dengue virus infection and what factors determine the ability of the virus to spread epidemically. He is twice the recipient of the Clinician-Scientist (Senior Investigator) Award by the National Medical Research Council in Singapore, once in 2010 and once again in 2014.
