Dear Member

May 3 is World Press Freedom Day.

The Singapore Press Club would like to mark the day by asking members to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the 48 journalists who were killed worldwide in 2016 while performing their duties.

Since 1992, the number of journalists killed has reached 1,237, according to the International Association of Press Clubs.

Last year, among those killed were Soe Moe Tun of Myanmar’s Daily Eleven and Al Jazeera’s Ibrahim Omar in Syria.

Show your support by observing a minute’s silence on May 3 between 6pm and 9pm local time and using/posting/tweeting #remembering. You can also post a selfie or change your profile picture to the press ribbon (http://pressclubs.org/event/725/).

Thank you.

Best regards
The Secretariat
Singapore Press Club
