Concert 1
Eight Tones Uninterrupted
Date: Friday 17th February 2012
Time: 8pm. The concert is expected to last for about 2 hours.
Place: SCO Concert Hall (Former Singapore Conference Hall), 7 Shenton Way
Description
Conductor: Quek Ling Kiong
Dizi: Zhan Yong Ming
Sheng: Guo Chang Suo
Dizi maestro Zhan Yong Ming will perform the Never-ending Resentment, a technically challenging piece based on the love story of Emperor Tang Xuan Zong and his concubine Yang Yu Huan. SCO’s Associate Conductor Quek Ling Kiong and SCO sheng principal Guo Chang Suo will take on a newly-commissioned sheng solo piece by Zhang Xiao Peng that brings out the full range of the instrument. Kuan Nai-chung’s masterpiece, A trip to Lhasa, will unveil the mystery and grandeur of the Tibet plateau.
Concert 2
Solo to Octet
Date: Friday 9th March 2012
Time: 8pm. The concert is expected to last for about 2 hours.

SCO Ensembles
This chamber concert features SCO musicians – from solo to octet – performing an assortment of ancient tunes and modern pieces that will leave the audience spellbound. Famed French oboist Jean-Louis Capezzali, an advocate of chamber music, will perform with the SCO a piece by Chen Qi Gang titled Extase. In addition, the orchestra ensemble will play Sound Games – an aural feast of cymbals, gongs, wooden block and drums at their grandest.
Both concerts are free-of-charge.

For Concert 2, the deadline is 12 noon Wednesday 7th March 2012. Please provide the same details as requested above.
Your guests are welcome but you’ll need to register them in advance. Children below 6 years of age will not be allowed into the concert hall.
