Dear Member

You are invited to meet author John McBeth, a columnist for The Straits Times and an expert on Indonesian affairs, who has just launched his book The Loner, which tells the story of former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s decade in power.
The book describes in detail the many challenges Yudhoyono faced and why Indonesia is still struggling with its past.

New Zealander Mcbeth, 72, spent 44 of his 52-year journalistic career in Asia, based in Bangkok, Seoul, Manila and Jakarta.
He will give his views on Yudhoyono’s legacy as Indonesia’s sixth and first directly-elected president — followed by a Q&A session.

The details of the event are attached.

Light refreshments will be served.

Mr Mcbeth will also be available to sign copies of his book, which can be purchased on that day for $30 (u.p.$37.45).

Please register at secretariat@pressclub.org.sg by November 12.

Limited to 50 people. A member can bring one guest.

Best regards
