The much-awaited Press Club Goodwill Mission is on! We will be visiting Uzbekistan from November 15 to 24, 2019.

Uzbekistan (“the most fascinating country you’ve never been to”) has three of the most important cities along the old Silk Road in Central Asia – Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, all artfully restored to their former colourful splendour. Tashkent, the capital, was fully rebuilt and restored by the former Soviets after a massive earthquake in 1966.

November will be a bit colder (around 10 deg C in the day) but is a good time to visit. (See this link:

The programme and costs are being finalised with the help of the Uzbek embassy in Singapore. But the embassy has asked for our delegation list before it firms up visits and meetings.

We have told the Embassy that our delegation usually comprises 30-35 members on a self-paid study tour, designed for both professional and personal enrichment and enjoyment. And in recent years we have gone to Romania, Iran, Kazakhstan, Japan, Estonia and Oman.
