Dear Member
You can now watch the award-winning play Guards at the Taj at a discounted rate, exclusive to the members of the Singapore Press Club.
Written by the talented American playwright Rajiv Joseph, directed by Jo Kukathas and performed by Ghafir Akbar and Jay Saighal, this wickedly-dark comedy is based on a myth surrounding the Taj Mahal that “nothing so beautiful shall ever be built again”.
In the vein of previous productions likeThe Pillowman and Disgraced, this is the kind of play that audiences have come to expect from Singapore Repertory Theatre.
The setting is India in 1648 on the night before the Taj Mahal opens to the public, but Rajiv Joseph’s script is strikingly modern. There is a reason he won the Obie Award for Best New Play.
Guards at the Taj opens in Singapore on November 14.
