An evening with Singapore Chinese Orchestra
Dear members,
You are invited to join the SCO for two hours of fine musical entertainment.
You may pick one of the time slots below:
Date: Friday 16th September or Saturday 17th September 2011
Time: 8pm. The concert is expected to last for about 2 hours.
Place: SCO Concert Hall (Former Singapore Conference Hall), 7 Shenton Way
Acclaimed musicians SCO Leader Li Bao Shun and SCO’s Erhu Principal Zhao Jian Hua will perform two erhu masterpieces.
Fire Ritual by renowned composer Tan Dun combines traditional Chinese ritual music with palace music in a lyrical mourning of war and yearning for peace.
Night Thoughts by Liu Nian Qu was inspired by the famous story, “The Overlord Bidding Farewell to his Concubineâ€.
The orchestra will also present Suite for Chinese String Instruments, a composition that exhibits the mysterious momentum and charming tones of the huqin.

The concert is free-of-charge.
To register, pls send an email to secretariat@pressclub.org.sg by 2pm Wednesday 7 September 2011 giving your name, membership number, validity of membership, occupation, handphone number and preferred time slot.
Your guests are welcome but you’ll need to register them (giving their names) in advance. Children below 6 years of age will not be allowed into the concert hall.
If the number of interested participants exceeds the quota of tickets kindly provided by SCO, priority will be given to members, and the number of guests per member may be restricted.
