aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan in Tacloban, Philippines and also the Air Asia
Flight 8501 that crashed into the Java Sea.
*Evolution of newspaper photographers by Neo Xiaobin, ST Photojournalist*
Beyond the traditional role of an image maker, photographers are
increasingly expected to juggle multiple roles as a photographer,
videographer, and journalist catering to the different platforms of print
and online media. Neo Xiaobin discusses some of the challenges and
managing
expectations on the ground.
*Shooting Singapore: Telling stories about our community by Desmond Lim, ST
Photojournalist*
Nothing interesting to photograph in Singapore? Good photojournalism does
not always have to entail travels to exotic locales. Desmond Lim believes
that good stories can be found in our own backyard and shares about
finding
them in the seemingly mundane.
*Sea, Air, and Land: photographing the SAF’s elite by Alphonsus Chern, ST
Photojournalist*
Alphonsus Chern talks about his time photographing some of the most
challenging training in the Singapore Armed Forces such as the airborne
and
combat diver courses, as well as the Black Knights aerobatic team as they
were preparing for the jubilee display last year.
